Department of Health & Family Welfare to launch Special Campaign 6 from 2nd to 31st October 2026 to promote Swachhata and minimize pendency in Government offices
Preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6 underway from 15th to 30th September 2026, leading to the October drive focused on effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste, workspace cleanliness and efficiency
From November 2025 to August 2026, over 65,000 files reviewed, 47,000 plus grievances disposed, and 659 cleanliness campaigns conducted by DoHFW continuing the activities of Special Campaign

As part of the Government’s continued focus on institutionalising Swachhata and improving efficiency in Government functioning, the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has been undertaking comprehensive cleanliness, record management and pendency reduction initiatives across its offices and institutions since 2021.
As part of these efforts, significant progress has been made in cleanliness, record management, grievance redressal and space management. During the period from November 2025 to August 2026, DoHFW reviewed 65,329 files, of which 27,531 files were weeded out. The exercise has contributed towards streamlining record management and reducing accumulated records in government offices and institutions.
During the same period, 47,537 public grievances and 3,635 associated appeals were disposed of. In addition, 543 Members of Parliament (MP) References, 19 Parliamentary Assurances and 46 State Government References were also disposed of.
As part of the cleanliness and space management initiatives, a total of 659 cleanliness campaigns were conducted across various offices and institutions. These campaigns resulted in the disposal of scrap material worth ₹21.26 lakh and the freeing up of 24,299 square feet of space. The initiatives have contributed to creating cleaner and healthier workplace environments, improved record management and more effective utilisation of available space, besides facilitating revenue generation through the disposal of scrap.
National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD), New Delhi
The Preparatory Phase of Special Campaign 6 commenced on September 15, 2026 and will continue till September 30, 2026. During this phase, DoHFW will identify pendency under the identified parameters, mobilise ground-level functionaries, finalise sites for cleanliness campaigns, review records, undertake space management planning and identify scrap material for disposal.
Paper Waste Recycling Initiative (WWWF) at NITRD, New Delhi
The Department will make sustained efforts during the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6 to achieve the objectives of the campaign and further institutionalise cleanliness, efficiency and effective record and space management across its offices and institutions.
