The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), today organised the national webinar "जागरूक जिगर’: Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" in collaboration with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS). The webinar brought together thousands of youth from across the country to create awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, promote preventive healthcare and inspire young people to become ambassadors of a healthier, addiction-free India. The webinar was attended by Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and the speaker was Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Kumar Sarin, Chancellor & Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences.

Addressing the webinar, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that MY Bharat has emerged as India's single-window platform for youth development, connecting young people with opportunities in leadership, volunteering, experiential learning, career mentorship and nation-building.

"MY Bharat has emerged as India's single-window platform for youth development. It connects young people with leadership opportunities, experiential learning, career mentorship, volunteering and nation-building. Every idea has the potential to become a solution when empowered through the MY Bharat platform," the Minister said.

Highlighting the growing participation of youth, Dr. Mandaviya informed that between 1.5 lakh and 2.5 lakh young people visit the MY Bharat platform every day, reflecting the enthusiasm of India's youth to contribute towards national development.

Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Minister said that India's youth would be the driving force behind the country's transformation. "The Prime Minister has envisioned a Viksit Bharat by 2047, and it is our youth who will transform that vision into reality. A healthy, skilled and socially conscious generation is the foundation of a developed India," he said.

Expressing concern over the growing menace of substance abuse, Dr. Mandaviya urged every young citizen to actively participate in the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign "Drug addiction is one of the most pressing challenges before our society today. I urge every young citizen to take a pledge to become an ambassador of the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' movement and inspire others to choose a healthy and addiction-free lifestyle," he added.

During the webinar, Padma Bhushan awardee Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Kumar Sarin, launched the 'Yuva Yakrit Mitra (Y2M)' Experiential Learning Programme, a unique initiative developed jointly by ILBS and MY Bharat to equip young people with practical public health skills while creating a nationwide network of Yuva Health Champions. The programme will provide experiential learning opportunities in liver health awareness, preventive healthcare, community outreach, organ donation, health communication and digital campaigns.

Launching the programme, Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Sarin said:"The 'Yuva Yakrit Mitra' programme is designed to provide hands-on experiential learning to young volunteers, enabling them to work alongside experts, participate in community outreach and become certified Yuva Health Champions."

He emphasised that liver diseases are increasingly affecting younger populations due to unhealthy lifestyles and substance abuse, and stressed the importance of prevention through awareness and community participation. He also enlightened youth about daily healthy habits like maintaining fitness, sleep schedule and building positive energy.

Prof. Sarin further said that the partnership between ILBS and MY Bharat combines scientific expertise with the energy and reach of India's youth to build a nationwide movement for liver health, organ donation and preventive healthcare.

The webinar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session led by Prof. Sarin, followed by a demonstration of the registration process for the Yuva Yakrit Mitra programme on the MY Bharat portal. Youth across the country were encouraged to enrol in the programme and contribute towards building a healthier, fitter and Nasha Mukt Viksit Bharat.
