Ministry of Culture Hosts Museum Roundtable on Latest Advancements in Museum Sector at National Museum

The Ministry of Culture, organized a high-level Museum Roundtable on Latest Advancements in the Museum Sector at the National Museum, New Delhi, on 24th July 2025. The event served as a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration among distinguished professionals from India and across the world, representing a wide spectrum of museum expertise.

The roundtable focused on three critical themes shaping the future of museums:

  • Curation and Programming in Museums

· Design in Museums

  • The Use of Emerging Technologies in Museums

This single-day conclave witnessed active participation from experts and thought leaders from national and international institutions, fostering a rich exchange of ideas on contemporary museum management, innovative design practices, and the integration of cutting-edge technology in museum experiences.

The event commenced with an inaugural address by the Secretary, Ministry of Culture, who articulated the Government’s vision for the modernization of India’s museum ecosystem. The address highlighted the growing significance of merging traditional heritage preservation with forward-looking museological practices, and stressed the role of collaboration in driving transformative outcomes in the sector.

The roundtable featured a series of in-depth discussions and interactive sessions that aimed to:

  • Encourage engagement between key stakeholders in the global and Indian museum communities

· Explore evolving global perspectives on curation, design, and technology in museums

  • Facilitate knowledge-building and the sharing of best practices across institutions

The event underscored the Ministry’s commitment to promoting innovation, professional development, and international cooperation within the museum sector. It provided an important opportunity to identify priority areas for policy support and collaborative intervention, fostering synergies among curators, designers, scholars, technologists, and cultural institutions.

With strong international participation, the roundtable served as a unique confluence of global expertise and local ambition—reinforcing India’s resolve to elevate its museums as vibrant, inclusive, and technologically empowered cultural spaces. The Ministry reiterated its focus on supporting sustainable and future-ready museums that preserve the past while engaging audiences of the present and future.
