The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, will chair the Workshop on Breed Development in India tomorrow at the Indira Gandhi Convention Centre, Lucknow. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and will inaugurate the event. It will also be attended by the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel; the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri George Kurian; and the Minister of Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Dharmpal Singhsare also to attend the program along with senior officials.

The event is being organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, and this national-level workshop aims to strengthen the ecosystem for breed development in the country. The discourse will centre on conservation of indigenous breeds, enhancement of genetic potential, promotion of breed-based productivity, and alignment of livestock development programmes with broader sustainability and climate resilience objectives. The workshop is designed to increase collaboration among States and UTs.

As part of the event, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will inaugurate the Artificial Insemination Training Institute in Gorakhpur. The event will also witness the inauguration of various projects supported under the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, a Framework for the Establishment of Breeders’ Associations will be officially released, laying down a structured roadmap for organized breed improvement efforts across the country. A dedicated Farmer Interaction session will be conducted, during which the Chief Minister and Union Minister will interact directly with livestock farmers.
