Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Disabilities Marks 47th Foundation Day

Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities celebrated its 47th Foundation Day with a special program presided over by Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Director of the Institute. The event commenced with the lighting of lamps in the presence of Guest of Honour Mr. Mallikarjuna Aitha, Dr. Lalit Narayan, Deputy Director, and other heads of departments and institute employees.

Certificates and mementos were awarded to students achieving top positions in various academic courses. Cultural programs showcased the talents of the institute's students, while alumni from the past 40 years, hailing from different countries, shared their experiences with current students.
Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Director, emphasized the institute's significant role in empowering disabled individuals in society. He highlighted students' achievements and committed to supporting their contributions through empowerment initiatives. Dr. Sharma also discussed the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities' programs and the institute's various activities throughout the year. Deputy Director Dr. Lalit Narayan provided insights into the institute's history, current achievements, and future plans, including the expansion of academic courses.
Shri Mallikarjuna Aitha, Guest of Honour, acknowledged the institute's vital role in empowering disabled individuals. He expressed pride in the institute's contribution to producing rehabilitation professionals serving worldwide and advocated for its evolution into a university providing quality education to students nationwide.

Cultural presentations by institute students added vibrancy to the celebration, and the Guest of Honour was honored by the institute's leadership. The program was conducted by Mrs. Gunjan Wadhwa and Smriti Khurana. Dr. Jitendra Sharma delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Lalit Narayan expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks.
The event brought together department heads, officers, employees and students, reflecting the institute's commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment for persons with disabilities.
