In order to assess the implementation progress of various Government/MDoNER Schemes in NER, Ministry of Development of North Eastern States have designated Senior Officials from the Ministry as Chief Nodal Officer (CNO)/Nodal Officer(NO) for every NE States. These CNO/NO have been asked to visit NE States on regular basis to inspect the progress of the Projects/Schemes and to interact with their counterparts from State Government problems being faced by them in implementation of the Projects/Schemes. This is more important with the fact that Government is taking special care of NE Region and every effort are being made to connect the region with the other part of the Country in a better way. This could be supported with the fact that major infrastructure proposals relating to connectivity-road, rail, air and waterways are underway in the region.

 

Shri Umesh Kumar, Director& Nodal Officer for the state of Sikkim, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDONER) during his 3 day visit to Sikkim, held a review meeting with District Collector West Sikkim, Shri Karma R. Bonpo. Officials from Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Horticulture Department were also present. West District of Sikkim also listed as one of the Aspirational District of the country. During the deliberations held in the meeting, review of delayed projects,living standards of villagers under backward block and all round development of the West District were discussed. District Collector West was requested to submit the list of villages under West District which still required electricity, drinking water supply, broadband and road connectivity. The meeting was followed by inspection of the development works and interaction with Panchayat members/Self Help Groups (SHGs)/general public of Chongrang Block and visit to bee culture site at Chongrang.

      

At the outset, the following demands were submitted to the Ministry:

• Road Connectivity from Tashiding Bazar to GangyapHotspring.
• Demand of College/University at Tashiding Lasso.
• Sinek PHC upgradation to CHC.
• Connectivity Bridge to District headquarter from Pewthang along with Lodung River.
• Legship to Chongrang Road Carpeting.
• Construction of Community hall Tashiding with Indoor Facility.
• Car Parking at Tashiding Bazar.
• Construction of Bridge connectivity Lingding with Nerdhang.
