India’s Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 143 Cr

More than 72 Lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours

Recovery Rate currently at 98.40% is highest since March 2020


6,358 New Cases reported in the last 24 hours

India's Active Caseload currently stands at 75,456

Weekly Positivity Rate (0.64%) less than 1% for last 44 days


India’s Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage has exceeded 143 cr covid-19 today afternoon. This has been achieved through 1,51,91,424 sessions.

The break-up of the cumulative figure as per the provisional report till 7 am today include:

The recovery of 6,450 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,42,43,945.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%, highest since March 2020.

Sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs continue the trend of less than 15,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for last 61 days now.

6,358 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 75,456. Active cases constitute 0.22% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 10,35,495 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 67.41 Cr (67,40,78,531) cumulative tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.64% remains less than 1% for the last 44 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.61%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for last 85 days and below 3% for 120 consecutive days now.

Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs

More than 149.06 Crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs

More than 16.80 Crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses still available with States/UTs

The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.

More than 149.06 crore (1,49,06,76,985) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.

More than 16.80 Cr (16,80,89,481) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

Union Health Ministry engages with States/UTs to review the rollout of vaccination for the age group 15-18 yrs and Precautionary dose for identified vulnerable categories

Vaccination of age-group 15-18 yrs to start from 3rd January, 2022 and Precautionary dose for HCWs, FLWs and co-morbid 60+ group from 10th January

Doctor Certificate/Prescription NOT required to establish co-morbidity; Doctors advice an indication for 60+ persons to consult with their doctors before opting for a precaution dose

 

Union Health Secretary, Shri Rajesh Bhushan, chaired a workshop through video conference (VC) today with all States and UTs to review the rollout of vaccination for the age group 15-18 and Precautionary 3rd dose for vulnerable categories; Healthcare workers (HCW), Frontline workers (FLW), and those in the 60+ age group who have comorbidity.

As announced by the Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi on 25th December, 2021, the vaccination for the age-group 15-18 yrs is scheduled to begin from Monday, 3rd January, 2022 while administration of precautionary 3rd dose for the vulnerable categories is to commence from Monday, 10th January, 2022. The detailed guidelines regarding this were issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 27th December,2021.
