The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Nagpur, is undertaking three initiatives to strengthen financial inclusion, improve banking awareness and promote safe digital transactions. Under the nationwide Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign, being conducted by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, in coordination with RBI and participating banks from October 21 to December 31, 2026, the Financial Inclusion and Development Department (FIDD), RBI, Nagpur, is coordinating implementation across Vidarbha. The campaign aims to organise at least one camp in every Gram Panchayat and Urban Local Body to bring essential banking services closer to citizens.
The camps provide assistance with Re-KYC, C-KYC, nomination updates, Aadhaar seeding and activation of inoperative Jan-Dhan accounts. Eligible citizens can also seek enrolment under PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY, assistance with Kisan Credit Card applications and information on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Support is also available to trace unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds and mutual fund investments through RBI’s UDGAM, IRDAI’s Bima Bharosa and SEBI’s MITRA platforms. RBI Nagpur inaugurated the campaign at Deekshabhoomi on October 21, during Dhammachakra Pravartan Diwas, through LED displays, audio messages in Marathi and Hindi, bank stalls and distribution of information material. Citizens may contact their nearest bank branch or Business Correspondent for camp details.
The “PARAKH – Every Note Matters” campaign, launched in January 2026, focuses on improving the capacity of officials of Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs), District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in handling defective currency notes. Over the past ten months, RBI Nagpur has trained more than 8,700 officials from 190 UCBs, 23 DCCBs, two State Cooperative Banks, two RRBs and five commercial banks. The training covers counterfeit note detection, Note Refund Rules and practical adjudication exercises. A reference poster on the rules has also been prepared for display at bank counters.
RBI Nagpur’s e-BAAT (electronic Banking Awareness and Training) programme promotes the safe use of digital payment systems, including internet and mobile banking, NEFT, RTGS, AEPS and UPI. It also raises awareness about cyber frauds such as SIM cloning, juice jacking and digital arrest, besides covering social security schemes, deposit insurance, RBI Retail Direct, Central Bank Digital Currency and the UDGAM portal. During 2026–27, 18 programmes have been conducted across 13 districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada, reaching 6,210 participants, including bank customers, self-help groups, ASHA workers, CISF personnel and members of credit societies. Together, these initiatives seek to widen access to financial services and help citizens and banking personnel use financial systems with greater awareness and confidence.
