Kochi: The Regional Office of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Kochi, has achieved a significant milestone in the nationwide Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026, launched by the Central Government under the Code on Social Security, 2020. With more than 2,000 employees enrolled through 195 establishments, RO Kochi has secured the 4th position nationally and the 1st position in Kerala in terms of employee enrolments.
The achievement marks a significant step towards expanding the reach of social security in the region. Through sustained outreach, field-level interventions and concerted efforts by the officers and staff of RO Kochi, 29 establishments that were not previously covered under the EPF framework have been brought within the social security net. Consequently, a large number of employees have gained access to the benefits of Provident Fund, Pension and Employees’ Deposit-Linked Insurance (EDLI) up-to Rs.7 lakh.
The campaign aimed at identifying and enrolling eligible employees who had hitherto remained outside the social security framework. It also provided an opportunity for establishments to voluntarily regularise the coverage of such employees in accordance with the provisions of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The achievement reflects the collective commitment and coordinated efforts of the enforcement officers and administrative staff of RO Kochi, along with the cooperation extended by the establishments and their representatives. The initiative reinforces EPFO's commitment to ensuring that every eligible employee has access to long-term financial security and social protection through provident fund, pension and life insurance benefits.
Although the campaign concluded on 31 October 2026, establishments desirous of extending EPF coverage to their eligible employees may continue to approach the EPFO offices at Kochi, Thrissur and Alappuzha for necessary guidance and assistance regarding statutory coverage.
The milestone is not merely a numerical achievement; it represents the extension of the social security umbrella to more establishments and employees, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and secure workforce.
