The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today released the 24th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) from Banaskantha, Gujarat, transferring more than Rs. 18,690 crore directly to the bank accounts of over 9.34 crore farmers across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). On the occasion, the Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation 521 units developed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and inaugurated 12 Horticulture Clusters.
Joining the nationwide celebration, ICAR-National Research Centre for Orchids (NRCO), Pakyong organized “PM-KISAN Utsav” with organic farmers of Pakyong District.

A total of 85 farmers/beneficiaries from Ganchung, Damlakha, Taza, Pachak, Parkha, Kabuthang, Taksang, Mamjey, Yakten, Pakyong, Chalamthung, Pachey, Kartok and Namcheybong villages of Pakyong District participated in the programme and witnessed the live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address.
The PM-KISAN scheme, a Central Sector Scheme launched on 24th February 2019, aims to provide financial support to all landholding farmer families with cultivable land. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs. 6,000 per year in three equal instalments of Rs. 2,000 each. Farmers can self-register through the PM-Kisan portal, mobile application and Common Service Centres, with land records digitally verified and the amount transferred directly to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts through DBT, ensuring transparency and timely delivery.
As one of the world’s largest DBT programmes, PM-KISAN has significantly impacted farmers by providing direct financial support. Notably, around 25% of the total benefits go to women beneficiaries. Women farmers have received more than Rs. 1.06 lakh crore under PM-KISAN till the 23rd instalment, with nearly one out of every four beneficiaries being a woman farmer, reflecting the Government’s commitment to empowering women farmers and enhancing their economic security.

The programme at ICAR-NRCO, Pakyong was organized under the leadership of Dr. S.P. Das, Director, and coordinated by Dr. L.C. De, Nodal Officer, with support from Scientists Dr. N.S. Kalaivanan, Dr. Nikhila V.A. and Dr. T. Rihne, along with Administrative, Financial, Technical, Supporting staff, Young Professionals and Contractual staff.
