Vasco/Goa, 29 October 2026:
The Indian Navy promptly assisted the civil authorities in containing a major fire that broke out at Vasco Market, Vasco da Gama, Goa, on 28 October 2026.

Following a request from the local authorities, the Indian Navy mobilised five Defence Fire Tenders (DFTs) from INS Gomantak, INS Hansa and the Naval Armament Depot (NAD), under Headquarters, Goa Naval Area (HQGNA), to support the firefighting operations.

Naval firefighting teams worked in close coordination with the Goa State Fire and Emergency Services. Through coordinated and sustained efforts, the fire was brought under control.

The prompt response reflects the Indian Navy’s continued commitment to supporting the civil administration and local authorities during emergencies and disasters. The Navy remains committed to extending assistance to civil authorities whenever required.
