The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Nagpur, concluded the month-long Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign on October 17, reaffirming its commitment to cleanliness, environmental protection and public participation under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”

Launched on September 17 by Shri Pankaj Kulshrestha, Controller General, IBM, the campaign began with the administration of the Swachhata Pledge by Shri Kulshrestha and Dr. Yogesh G. Kale, Chief Controller of Mines, in Hindi and English, respectively.

During the campaign, IBM Headquarters in Nagpur, along with its four zonal offices, 14 regional offices, Mineral Processing Laboratories and mines under its jurisdiction, organised a range of activities promoting cleanliness, hygiene, waste management and environmental awareness.

Key initiatives included cleanliness drives at public places, residential areas and villages near mines; transformation of identified cleanliness target units and garbage-vulnerable points; Swachh Paathshala programmes; walkathons and cyclothons; e-waste collection drives; and creative Waste-to-Art activities. Community outreach programmes, Swachhata Samvaad sessions and school-level essay, painting and slogan-writing competitions encouraged public participation and environmental awareness.

IBM also organised health check-up camps for Safai Mitras, recognising their contribution to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. The “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” initiative saw officers and employees participate in Shramdaan, while plantation drives under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” promoted environmental conservation. A Swachhata Deewar was also installed at IBM Headquarters to reinforce the message of cleanliness.

The concluding programme on October 17 included the felicitation of Safai Mitras for their dedicated service and recognition of schoolchildren for promoting cleanliness through their creative paintings and participation in campaign activities.

Through SHS 2026, the Indian Bureau of Mines reiterated its commitment to making cleanliness, responsible waste management and environmental sustainability an integral part of everyday life.
