The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), Ministry of Defence, organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Job Fair at Nagpur on 16 October 2026, reaffirming its commitment to enabling meaningful second careers for veterans and strengthening the industry–veteran employment ecosystem.
The Job Fair witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 480 Ex-Servicemen and 42 leading national and multinational companies, offering more than 1,300 employment opportunities across diverse sectors. The event provided a focused platform for connecting the skills, experience and leadership of trained Armed Forces personnel with the evolving talent requirements of industry.

The event was inaugurated by Maj Gen Varun Malhotra, General Officer Commanding, UMANG Sub Area, who attended as the Military Chief Guest. Shri Amitabh Sinha, Chairman, CII Vidarbha Zonal Council, graced the occasion as the Corporate Guest of Honour. Maj Gen SBK Singh, SM, Director General Resettlement, and Brig Ranjan Keron, ADG, DRZ South, were also present.
Senior military officers and corporate representatives interacted with participating veterans, discussing employment prospects, industry expectations and the competencies required in the civilian workforce. The interactions underscored the significant value that Ex-Servicemen bring to organisations through their leadership, discipline, integrity, technical proficiency, problem solving abilities and experience in managing people and resources under demanding conditions.

Prominent recruiters included Solar Group, Delhivery, Eros Group, Haldiram, JSR Dynamics and SBI Life, among other reputed organisations. Their participation reflected the growing scope for employing veterans across sectors and the importance of sustained industry engagement in expanding resettlement opportunities.
The Job Fair went beyond employment facilitation to strengthen the connection between military experience and corporate requirements. It enabled employers to engage directly with a disciplined, skilled and experienced talent pool, while providing veterans with opportunities to explore new professional pathways and apply their capabilities in the civilian domain.

DGR continues to advance the resettlement of retiring and retired Armed Forces personnel through employment facilitation, skill development, entrepreneurship promotion and partnerships with industry. These initiatives aim to ensure that the transition from military to civilian life is supported by dignified employment, sustainable livelihoods and opportunities for continued contribution to nation-building.
DGR calls upon corporate organisations, industry associations and employers across sectors to deepen their engagement with Ex-Servicemen and recognise the immense potential of this proven talent pool. Stronger partnerships between government, industry and the Armed Forces can translate military experience into productive civilian employment thus benefiting veterans, their families, employers and the nation.
