Tata Memorial Centre, ACTREC organises Organ Donation Awareness Session under ‘Jug Jug Jiyo Abhiyan’

Tata Memorial Centre, ACTREC, Kharghar, an autonomous Grant-in-Aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, organised an Organ Donation Awareness Session on 6th October, 2026, under the ‘Jug Jug Jiyo Abhiyan’, in coordination with the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO-SOTTO), Western Region, KEM Hospital, Mumbai.

The awareness programme was organised to raise awareness among staff, patients and their relatives about the importance of organ and tissue donation and to encourage informed and responsible discussions on organ donation.

Dr Manisha Jadhav, Consultant, IEC, ROTTO-SOTTO, Western Region, KEM Hospital, addressed the participants on various aspects of organ donation. The session covered the importance and process of organ donation, common misconceptions and facts, consent-related aspects, and the legal and regulatory provisions governing organ donation and transplantation in India.

An interactive Question-and-Answer session was also conducted, providing participants with an opportunity to clarify their queries and gain a better understanding of the practical and legal aspects of organ donation.

The session was conducted in the presence of senior officials of ACTREC, including Mrs Kamla Paidipati, Chief Administrative Officer; Dr Ananth K Reddy, Assistant Medical Superintendent; Dr Sumedha Patankar, Assistant Medical Superintendent; Dr Priti Malgaonkar, Assistant Medical Superintendent; and Dr Bharti Veer, Nursing Superintendent, along with other senior officials.

The programme witnessed active participation from the ACTREC community and provided participants with an opportunity to learn about the importance of organ donation and the legal framework governing the donation and transplantation process.

The initiative highlighted the importance of raising awareness and encouraging individuals to make informed decisions about organ donation, thereby contributing to the broader goal of saving and improving lives through organ and tissue transplantation.

Tata Memorial Centre, ACTREC, expressed its appreciation to the ROTTO-SOTTO Western Region team at KEM Hospital and Dr Manisha Jadhav for their valuable contribution to the awareness initiative. The programme was organised as part of Tata Memorial Centre, ACTREC’s continued efforts to promote healthcare awareness and community-oriented initiatives.
