DGTS, Mumbai Organises Outreach Programme on GST for Young Minds at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mankhurd

The Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Mumbai Zonal Unit, under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, organised an Outreach Programme on “GST for Young Minds: Understanding Taxes in Everyday Life” at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mankhurd, Mumbai, on October 7, 2026. The programme was organised to create awareness among students about Goods and Services Tax (GST), its relevance in daily life and the role of responsible citizens in the tax system.
Shri Sumit Kumar, Principal Additional Director General, DGTS, Mumbai Zonal Unit, in his keynote address, highlighted the importance of developing tax awareness among young citizens. He explained the basic features of GST, its role in bringing different indirect taxes under a unified system and the importance of obtaining proper tax invoices while making purchases. He also explained how tax revenues support public services and infrastructure.
Shri Pawan Khandal, Principal, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mankhurd, welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of tax awareness and financial literacy among students.
