Pondicherry University and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaborations between the two institutions. The MoU has emerged from the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) network scheme supported by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), under which Pondicherry University and NIT Nagaland are participating as Spoke Institutions, with Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc), serving as the Hub Institution.

Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry University, shared his thoughts on the significance of the collaboration and emphasised the University's commitment to expanding its research partnerships with leading institutions nationwide. He noted, “Collaborative research is essential for addressing complex scientific and societal challenges. Partnerships such as this enable institutions to share expertise, infrastructure and ideas, while creating greater opportunities for students and researchers.”

Prof. A. Elayaperumal, Director, NIT Nagaland, spoke about the long-standing academic and research interactions between NIT Nagaland and Pondicherry University. He noted that NIT Nagaland is the only institution from the North-East region participating in the PAIR project and emphasised the opportunities that this MOU provides for strengthening research linkages with leading institutions. He urged the faculty members and students of both institutions to actively pursue collaborative research and develop joint projects that can lead to impactful outcomes.

The signing of the MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening inter-institutional collaboration and advancing the objectives of the ANRF-PAIR programme, with both Pondicherry University and NIT Nagaland looking forward to developing sustained partnerships in research, innovation and academic capacity building.
