The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), along with its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and Autonomous Bodies (ABs), has commenced the preparatory phase of the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 6 (SCDPM 6). This year, the campaign places special emphasis on “Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal of E-Waste”, along with cleanliness, reduction of pendency and better workplace management.

During the preparatory phase i.e. 15th September to 30th September 2026, MHI and its CPSEs/ABs are reviewing old physical and electronic files, identifying unserviceable items, scrap and e-waste, and taking steps for their proper disposal. The activities aim to free up office space, improve record management and promote cleaner and more organised workplaces.

Special Focus on E-Waste Management

In line with this year's theme, special attention is being given to the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste across offices and industrial units under MHI. The CPSEs/ABs are identifying e-waste generated at their respective establishments and taking steps for its segregation and disposal in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022.

E-Waste items identified for collection, segregation and disposal in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 at BHEL (CPSE under MHI) The initiative will help ensure proper handling of e-waste and promote responsible waste management practices across the CPSEs/ABs under the Ministry.

Cleanliness drives are also being planned across office campuses and industrial units. These activities will focus on maintaining clean, safe and organised workplaces while encouraging a culture of cleanliness, accountability and responsible waste management.

Key targets identified during the preparatory phase up to 24th September 2026 are:

• 272 sites identified for intensive cleanliness drives across office campuses and industrial units.
• 18,22,374 sq. ft. of space identified for freeing up through disposal of clutter and obsolete materials.
• 4,003 physical files identified for review and weeding out as per record retention rules.
• 51582 e-files identified for closure to improve digital record management.
• 439 e-waste items identified for collection, segregation and disposal in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022.

The Ministry is conducting regular review meetings with nodal officers and senior officials of CPSEs/ABs to monitor progress and ensure effective implementation of the campaign. The meetings focus on disposal of pending matters, cleanliness, space management and proper management of e-waste.

During the preparatory phase, CPSEs/ABs are maintaining records of their daily activities related to file review, cleanliness drives, scrap disposal, space management and e-waste management. These activities are being closely monitored by the Ministry to ensure preparedness for the implementation phase from 2nd October to 31st October 2026.

Through Special Campaign 6.0, the Ministry of Heavy Industries aims to promote cleaner and more efficient workplaces, reduce pendency and strengthen responsible waste management, with particular emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste. The Ministry, along with its CPSEs/ABs, remains committed to the successful implementation of the campaign.
