Department of Defence intensifies cleanliness and workplace improvement initiatives under Swachhta Abhiyan

The Department of Defence (DoD) conducted 2,229 cleanliness drives across its attached and subordinate offices between November 2025 and August 2026, in continuation with the Special Campaign 5.0 which was held in October 2025. Through these drives, the department was able to free up 45,448 square feet of space and generate ₹97.07 lakh through the disposal of scrap and other unserviceable materials.
The cleanliness and decluttering activities have been carried out with active participation from various organisations under the Department, including the Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE), Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) and Canteen Stores Department (CSD), among others.
Through these sustained efforts, the Department remains committed to fostering a clean, organised, efficient and productive workplace, while institutionalising Swachhta as a regular feature of official functioning.
