A Telangana media delegation, as part of the ongoing Gujarat media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Hyderabad, visited the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, and GIFT City today.

Visit to National Forensic Sciences University

At NFSU, Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor, NFSU, briefed the delegation on the University’s role in advancing forensic science, research, technology and specialised training. He also shared his experiences in the field and highlighted the growing importance of forensic science in strengthening scientific investigation.

Dr. Vyas highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to strengthen forensic science and build a modern, scientific and evidence-based criminal justice system. He said that efforts are underway to expand forensic education and specialised institutions across the country, including in the southern States, to create a wider pool of trained forensic professionals.

 

 

 

 

He further added that the Government of India has approved additional NFSU campuses in several States, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, as part of efforts to expand forensic education and capacity across the country.

The delegation visited NFSU’s specialised forensic laboratories, gaining first-hand practical exposure to forensic techniques and technologies and understanding their application in scientific investigation.

The delegation also visited NFSU’s Media Centre and Multimedia Forensics facilities, gaining first-hand exposure to media technologies and the forensic examination of audio, video and digital images. Experts provided the journalists with insights into the application of technology and scientific methods in investigation and crime detection.

Visit to the GIFT City

Later, the delegation visited Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and learnt about its modern infrastructure and integrated financial and technology ecosystem.

GIFT City representatives briefed the journalists on its key incentives and regulatory framework, along with its infrastructure, city planning, global outreach and technology-enabled services.

The delegation also toured GIFT City’s underground utility tunnel, gaining first-hand insight into its integrated infrastructure for power, ICT, water, sewage and waste-management services. The integrated underground system enables efficient management of these essential services while supporting GIFT City’s “digging-free” city concept.

 

The journalists were also briefed about GIFT City’s Automated Waste Collection System (AWCS), which GIFT City identifies as India’s first automated waste-management system.

Officials of GIFT City also explained its integrated ecosystem covering international banking, capital markets, insurance, fund management, fintech and other financial services, and its role as India’s International Financial Services Centre.

Media Tour reflected the Government of India’s focus on strengthening scientific capabilities, developing skilled manpower, promoting innovation and building globally competitive infrastructure, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a technologically advanced and globally competitive India.
