A special edition of the Sundays on Cycle programme, themed around Teachers’ Day, was organised on Sunday at the Sports Authority of India Regional Centre, SAI CRC Bhopal. The programme was graced by Hon’ble Member of NITI Aayog, Dr. Joram Aniya, as the Chief Guest.

During the programme, Dr. Joram Aniya flagged off the cycling rally, participated in a plantation drive and administered the Fit India Pledge to athletes and participants. She also held a special interaction with coaches and athletes. Following the programme, the Hon’ble Member visited SAI CRC Bhopal and various sports projects and facilities in Madhya Pradesh.

At the beginning of the programme, Ms. Anshika Jain, Assistant Director, SAI CRC Bhopal, welcomed and felicitated the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Dr. Joram Aniya, with a bouquet. Dr. Joram Aniya paid floral tributes to the portrait of former President of India and eminent educationist Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, she remembered and paid tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan for his invaluable contribution to education, values and nation-building.

Participants Cover 4 km on Cycles
Athletes, coaches and officials, along with participants, took part in the special edition of Sundays on Cycle. Dr. Joram Aniya administered the Fit India Pledge to all participants, encouraging them to adopt a healthy, fit and active lifestyle.

The Hon’ble Chief Guest then flagged off the cycling rally, during which participants covered a distance of approximately 4 kilometres.

Plantation Drive Spreads Message of Environmental Conservation

Along with promoting fitness, environmental conservation was also an important aspect of the programme. Dr. Joram Aniya planted a sapling at the SAI CRC Bhopal campus, spreading the message of environmental protection and sustainability.

Direct Interaction with Coaches and Athletes on Sports Policies

During the programme, Dr. Joram Aniya held a special interaction with the coaches and athletes of SAI CRC Bhopal. She sought their suggestions and feedback on strengthening India’s sports ecosystem and making sports policies more effective.

Athletes and coaches shared their experiences, challenges and suggestions related to sports infrastructure and facilities. The interaction served as an important initiative towards ensuring that the voices and experiences of athletes and coaches contribute to the process of policy-making.

Pooja Olla Presented with the Torch of Sporting Spirit

On the occasion, Pooja Olla, who has qualified for the Asian Games 2026, was felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Guest and extended best wishes for the upcoming international competition.

Dr. Joram Aniya presented Pooja Olla with a torch symbolising sporting spirit, perseverance and excellence. The moment reflected the aspirations of India’s new generation of athletes and their determination to win medals for the nation on the international stage.

Visit to SAI and Sports Projects

Following the programme, the Hon’ble Member visited various facilities at SAI CRC Bhopal. During her visit, Dr. Joram Aniya reviewed the advanced Sports Science facilities and world-class sports infrastructure available at the centre.

She appreciated the modern facilities available for athlete training, performance enhancement and the scientific development of sporting talent. She also visited the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting facilities as well as the Madhya Pradesh International Sports City at Nathu Barkheda.

Visit to Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy

During her visit to the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy, Hon’ble Member of NITI Aayog Dr. Joram Aniya met Madhya Pradesh’s talented shooters Shri Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Ms. Ashi Chouksey, who will represent India at the upcoming Asian Games 2026.

She interacted with both athletes, enquired about their preparations and extended her best wishes for the prestigious international event. The Hon’ble Member wished them a bright future and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver outstanding performances for India on the international stage.

At the conclusion of the programme, Shri Rajat Sharma, Assistant Director, SAI CRC Bhopal, expressed his gratitude to all the guests, athletes, coaches, officials and participants for making the programme a success.
