An 11-member media delegation from Odisha, comprising senior journalists, editors, and Press Information Bureau (PIB) officials, visited Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, today. Organized as part of the Government of India’s Inter-State Media Exposure Tour coordinated by PIB Chennai, the visit aimed to showcase flagship developmental programs, advanced healthcare infrastructure, and public service achievements.

During the visit, the delegation interacted with Dr. Vir Singh Negi, Director, JIPMER, and Dr. S. Vinodkumar, Medical Superintendent, who briefed the journalists on JIPMER’s pivotal role as an Institute of National Importance delivering tertiary and quaternary healthcare, medical education, and biomedical research.

The media team toured key facilities across the campus, including the Screening OPD, Super Speciality Block, Women & Children’s Hospital, Regional Cancer Centre, and Nuclear Medicine facilities. Special sessions highlighted JIPMER’s patient welfare programs, government health insurance facilitation, and digital health initiatives leveraging telemedicine to extend specialist care. Coordinated by JIPMER's Public Relations Office, the visit concluded with an interactive media session focusing on public healthcare delivery, specialized clinical services, and medical research.
