MSME-DFO Silchar Empowers PM Vishwakarma Artisans through Branding and Marketing Awareness Programme

The MSME-Development & Facilitation Office Silchar, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, in association with the District Industries & Commerce Centre (DICC), Cachar, and Varcas Humanitarian Foundation, Silchar, organised a one-day awareness programme on Branding and Marketing under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme for the beneficiaries at Gandhi Bhawan, Silchar on 24th August 2026.
The programme aimed at equipping traditional artisans and craftspeople with practical knowledge and tools to enhance the branding, marketing and marketability of their products. More than 114 PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries participated in and benefited from the awareness programme. The programme provided participants with practical knowledge on branding, marketing, entrepreneurship, digital tools, export opportunities and emerging technologies, enabling them to enhance the competitiveness and marketability of their traditional products.
On this occasion Shri Sumit Gundayya, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, Silchar, highlighted the transformative role of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in improving the livelihoods of traditional artisans through institutional support, skill development and enhanced market access.
Shri Deepayan Bose of DICC, Cachar, briefed the participants about various schemes and initiatives of the Government of Assam available to PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries for further development and expansion of their enterprises.
Dr. Dibya Nandan Mishra, Assistant Professor, NIT Silchar, sensitised the artisans on entrepreneurship development, pricing strategies, market trends, and financial and digital aspects of business management. Dr. Nilanjana Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Assam University, Silchar, provided insights into export opportunities and procedures for taking PM Vishwakarma products to international markets.
Shri Ranu Kumar Singh, Lead, State Level Project Management Unit, delivered a practical demonstration on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in product design, marketing and branding. He highlighted how emerging technologies can help artisans improve product presentation, strengthen branding and expand their market reach.
