WCL Concludes ‘TEJAS’ Programme, Reinforces Focus on Developing Future Leaders

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) successfully concluded its ‘TEJAS’ leadership development programme on August 22, 2026, following the completion of its first and second modules and computer-based assessment. The programme was designed to nurture leadership capabilities, innovation, strategic thinking and organisational understanding among young executives through structured learning and development. The concluding ceremony was attended by Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL; Shri Indra Dev Narayan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL); and Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande said that the completion of TEJAS was not the end of a journey but the beginning of a new journey towards responsible, capable, courageous and visionary leadership. He urged the participants to apply the knowledge gained during the programme in their professional work, embrace innovation, lead with integrity and empathy, and contribute towards positive change in the organisation. Shri Indra Dev Narayan appreciated WCL’s efforts towards leadership development and said that initiatives such as TEJAS play an important role in strengthening leadership capabilities, encouraging innovation and strategic thinking, and preparing the organisation to meet future challenges.
Shri Bikram Ghosh congratulated the participants and the team associated with the programme and appreciated the achievements of TEJAS. He also shared his views on the vision and objectives of the initiative and the opportunities it provides to young executives. During the concluding ceremony, the top three paper presentations selected from the subjects prepared by the participants were presented. Faculty members and outstanding performers of the programme were also felicitated, while participants presented cultural performances that added a lively touch to the occasion.

TEJAS participants, faculty members, jury members, General Managers from various WCL Areas and senior officials from WCL Headquarters were present at the concluding ceremony. The programme marked another step in WCL’s efforts to develop a pool of capable and future-ready leaders equipped to take on greater responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s growth.
