The MSME-Development & Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Gangtok, under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India, convened a Press Meet today at its Deorali Office Premises. Addressing media representatives, Nirmal Chowdhury, Assistant Director Gr-I & Head of Office, along with Dr. Rahul Kamble, Assistant Director, MSME DFO Gangtok, briefed the press on details for the upcoming Export Promotion & E-Commerce Programme scheduled for August 27, 2026, at a private resort in Rangpo.

During the press briefing, the officials emphasized that the primary goal of the initiative is to empower local farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs across Sikkim by opening new pathways for global trade and digital market integration. The office detailed plans to educate local producers on essential export procedures, covering critical steps such as registration, compliance, documentation, packaging, labeling, certification, and logistics management.

Special emphasis was placed on elevating Sikkim's organic and specialty products in both national and international markets. To achieve this, the initiative will leverage e-commerce as a pivotal tool for direct market access while facilitating key linkages between local enterprises, buyers, exporters, and digital platforms.

The officials further informed that participants will be given detailed information on Government support schemes and incentives related to exports, finance, logistics and quality certification. Representatives and information on key institutions such as APEDA, DGFT, Spices Board, India Post through its Dak Niryat Kendra, and Exim Bank will also be shared during the programme. Ultimately, the programme aims to build a sustainable, export-oriented ecosystem in Sikkim by unifying farmers, government agencies, and financial institutions to drive local employment and income growth.
