Two-Week Online Management Development Programme (MDP) for Ministry of Tourism Officials Concludes at NIWS–IITTM Goa

Panaji, Goa, 18 August 2026

A two-week online Management Development Programme (MDP) for officials of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, concluded on 17 August 2026 at the National Institute of Water Sports (NIWS), Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management (IITTM), Goa.

The intensive programme comprised 40 sessions covering diverse aspects of tourism, management, leadership, governance and contemporary issues in tourism. Designed to strengthen professional competencies, the MDP aimed to equip participants with knowledge and perspectives that would support them in their leadership responsibilities and future career roles.

The programme brought together an accomplished pool of academicians, industry experts, senior IAS officers, senior faculty members of IITTM and a Padma Shri awardee. The sessions provided participants with academic insights, administrative experience and industry perspectives. As part of the programme, participants also presented seminar papers, promoting critical thinking, research orientation and knowledge sharing.

The valedictory session was chaired by Ms. Lalthamibigai K., Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. In her address, she appreciated the efforts undertaken to organise the programme and emphasised the importance of continuous learning and capacity building for effective leadership in the tourism sector.

Participants shared positive feedback on the MDP, highlighting that it provided valuable exposure, new perspectives and practical insights that would contribute to their professional development and prepare them for higher responsibilities and leadership roles.

Prof. Monika Prakash, Director (I/c), IITTM, congratulated the participants and the organising team on the successful completion of the MDP. The programme was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Pawan Gupta, Nodal Officer, NIWS–IITTM Goa and Chief Coordinator of the programme, with Dr. Charu Sheela Yadav and Dr. Prasantha Udaykumar serving as Coordinators.

The successful completion of the MDP reflects IITTM’s continued commitment to capacity building, professional development and strengthening human resources for India’s tourism sector.
