Department of Posts Invites Citizens to Participate in National 'Dhai Akhar' Letter Writing Competition

The Department of Posts has launched the National Level 'Dhai Akhar' Letter Writing Campaign 2026–27, inviting citizens across the country, including Goa, to participate in the prestigious annual handwritten letter writing competition. The campaign commenced on August 1, 2026, and will remain open until October 31, 2026.
The theme of this year's campaign is "A Letter to Mother Earth: My Promise to Protect Nature," encouraging participants to creatively express their commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable living through handwritten letters.
The competition is open to all Indian citizens in two age categories—up to 18 years and above 18 years. Each age group will have two categories: Inland Letter Card (ILC) and Envelope.
Participants may submit handwritten letters in English, Hindi or any vernacular language. Entries under the Envelope category should not exceed 1,000 words and be written on plain A4-size paper enclosed in an embossed envelope or an envelope affixed with the prescribed postage stamp, while Inland Letter Card (ILC) entries should be limited to 500 words. All entries should be addressed to The Chief Postmaster General Maharashtra Circle Mumbai – 400001
The Envelope or Inland Letter Card should be super scribed "DHAI AKHAR Letter 2026."
Participants are also required to include a declaration of age in their letter stating: "I certify that I am below/above the age of 18 as on 01/01/2026."
The competition offers attractive cash prizes at both the Maharashtra Circle level (covering Maharashtra and Goa) and the National level. At the Circle level, winners in each category will receive ₹25,000 (First Prize), ₹10,000 (Second Prize) and ₹5,000 (Third Prize). At the National level, the prizes are ₹50,000, ₹25,000 and ₹10,000, respectively, in each category.
The Circle-level results are expected to be announced by December 31, 2026.
The Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Goa Division, urged students, educational institutions, nature lovers and citizens from all walks of life across Goa to take part in the campaign.
For detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria and other information, participants may visit www.indiapost.gov.in or contact their nearest Post Office. Entries posted after October 31, 2026, will not be considered.
