One Nation, One Fertilizer' Initiative Strengthens Fertilizer Availability and Distribution Across the Country
Advance Planning, Digital Monitoring and Coordinated Supply Mechanism Support Timely Fertilizer Availability Nationwide
प्रविष्टि तिथि:

The Government of India has strengthened the country's fertilizer distribution system through the 'One Nation, One Fertilizer' initiative under the “Pradhanmantri Bhartiya Janurvarak Pariyojana” (PMBJP). Implemented with effect from 24 August 2022, the initiative mandates all Public Sector, Cooperative and Private Sector fertilizer companies to market subsidized fertilizers under the common “BHARAT” brand across the country.
The objective of the scheme is to increase the availability basket of fertilizers; take care of dilemma among farmers in choosing from plethora of brands manufactured by various companies available in the markets, reduce the crisscross movement and further ensure timely supply of fertilizers across the country. By consolidating branding under a single “BHARAT” brand, the scheme fosters transparency, combats malpractices, and ensures equitable access to essential nutrients for crops. Presently, all the subsidized fertilizers viz. Urea, DAP, MOP and NPKS grades are marketed under the Bharat Brand.
The Government has complemented the initiative with a robust fertilizer supply and distribution mechanism to ensure timely availability of fertilizers. Before the commencement of every cropping season, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), in consultation with State Governments, assesses the State-wise and month-wise fertilizer requirement. Based on these projections, the Department of Fertilizers (DoF) allocates adequate quantities of fertilizers through monthly supply plans and continuously monitors their availability across the country.
To strengthen transparency and real-time monitoring, the movement of all major subsidized fertilizers is tracked through the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS), an online web-based platform that monitors fertilizer movement across the supply chain. To bridge the gap between domestic production and demand, fertilizer imports are finalized well in advance to ensure timely availability during the cropping season.
The Government also regularly advises State Governments to coordinate with fertilizer manufacturers and importers for timely placement of indents and streamlined supplies. In addition, continuous coordination is maintained with the Ministry of Railways to ensure adequate availability of railway rakes, priority movement of fertilizers and timely evacuation of fertilizer consignments to various States. Distribution of fertilizers at the district level is undertaken by the respective State Governments.
In view of above, the availability of fertilizers viz. Urea, DAP, MOP and NPKS in the country has remained adequate during the ongoing Kharif 2026 season. The information regarding requirement, availability, sales and closing stock of these fertilizers in the States for the period 01.04.2026 to 29.07.2026 is placed below.

These coordinated measures have ensured timely fertilizer availability across the country while improving distribution efficiency, reducing avoidable inter-State movement of fertilizers, strengthening logistics management and providing farmers with easier access to subsidized fertilizers under a single trusted national brand.
This information was provided by Hon’ble Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda & MoS Smt. Anupriya Patel, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
