The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) successfully observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 from 16^th July to 31^st July 2026, reaffirming its commitment towards the vision of Swachh Bharat Mission and promoting cleanliness, hygiene and environmental sustainability across all its offices, attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and field institutions.

The Swachhata Pakhwada was organised in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti. During the fortnight, a wide range of activities were undertaken throughout the Ministry and its organisations to foster awareness and encourage active participation among officers, officials, trainees and stakeholders.

The observance commenced with the Swachhata Pledge administered by Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary (MSDE), where in officers and staff reaffirmed their commitment towards maintaining cleanliness and promoting hygienic practices in their workplaces and surroundings.

As part of the awareness initiatives, the Ministry organised various employee engagement activities including a Poster Making Competition and Slogan Writing Competition on the theme of cleanliness and environmental conservation. A workshop on "Curbing Single-use Plastic" was also organised to sensitise participants about sustainable alternatives and responsible waste management practices.

In addition to above, tree plantation drive was also organised in Kaushal Bhawan. Saplings of indigenous tree species were planted by the all the senior officers to promote environmental conservation, enhance green cover and reinforce the message of sustainable development. The initiative reflected the Ministry's commitment towards fostering a cleaner, greener and environmentally responsible ecosystem.

Addressing the occasion, senior officers of the Ministry emphasised that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and an essential component of creating safe, healthy and productive workplaces. They encouraged all employees and trainees to adopt cleanliness as a way of life and continue practising the principles of Swachhata beyond the Pakhwada.

MSDE's attached offices, subordinate offices, autonomous bodies, and other training institutions actively participated in the campaign by organising plantation drives, awareness programmes, community outreach activities, cleanliness campaigns and behavioural change initiatives in collaboration with local communities.

The Ministry also undertook extensive digital outreach through its official website and social media platforms by disseminating messages promoting cleanliness, sustainable practices and citizen participation in the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The Ministry expressed its appreciation to all attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and field institutions for their enthusiastic participation and successful implementation of the activities under Swachhata Pakhwada 2026. The collective efforts demonstrated during the fortnight reflect MSDE's continued commitment towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable India.
