Goa youth join PM's ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ at Ponda

As part of the nationwide launch of the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, MY Bharat, Goa, in collaboration with PES College of Arts and Science, Farmagudi, Ponda, organised a live screening of the Prime Minister's virtual address on Sunday.

The programme was attended by Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Hon'ble Minister for Water Resources, Government of Goa; Shri Ritesh Ravi Naik, President, Ponda Education Society; Prof. Celina Nazareth, Principal, Ponda College of Pharmacy; Shri G. S. Raghav, Director, MY Bharat, Goa; and Shri Samyek Meshram, Assistant Director, MY Bharat.
Around 320 MY Bharat volunteers, NSS members and students participated in the event and took the pledge to support the vision of a drug-free India and contribute to building a Viksit Bharat.

Launching the nationwide 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' through video conferencing, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed over one crore young people participating from more than 28,000 locations across the country. He said a Viksit Bharat could only be built by a healthy, confident and addiction-free younger generation.
The Prime Minister urged young people to stay away from drugs and become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement in their schools, colleges and communities. He said the campaign would continue over the next 100 Sundays, with activities such as sports, cultural programmes, meditation and awareness drives to encourage greater youth participation.

Calling upon educational institutions to play a proactive role, Shri Modi appealed to teachers and professors to regularly engage students in discussions on the harmful effects of substance abuse. He also stressed the importance of supporting and rehabilitating those recovering from addiction and reiterated the Government's commitment to taking strong action against drug trafficking and smuggling.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to spreading awareness about drug abuse and contributing towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Goa and a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
