The Department of Urology, AIIMS Nagpur, has established a Video Urodynamics Lab equipped with Electromyography (EMG) and Urethral Pressure Profilometry (UPP).

The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Hon'ble Executive Director & CEO Prof. (Dr.) Prashant P. Joshi in the presence of Dr. Nilesh Nagdeve, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Rasika Gadkari, Dean (Academics); Dr. Siddharth Dubhashi, Dean (Student Welfare); Dr. Chandrakant Munjewar, Associate Professor & In-charge, Department of Urology, and other dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in the diagnosis and management of complex urinary disorders.

Urodynamics is a specialized investigation that evaluates how the bladder stores and empties urine. The newly established facility offers Video Urodynamics, the most advanced form of bladder function testing, combining pressure measurements with real-time X-ray imaging to simultaneously assess the anatomy and function of the bladder and urethra. The addition of Electromyography (EMG) evaluates the coordination of the pelvic floor muscles and urinary sphincter, while Urethral Pressure Profilometry (UPP) measures urethral function. Together, these advanced modalities enable accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment planning for patients with complex urinary disorders.

The facility is expected to benefit patients across Vidarbha and neighbouring states by making advanced urodynamic evaluation accessible within the public healthcare system, thereby reducing the need for expensive private investigations and travel to distant centres.

The establishment of this laboratory reflects AIIMS Nagpur's continued commitment to delivering advanced, technology-driven and patient-centric urological care, further strengthening its role as a leading centre for comprehensive urological services in Central India.
