Mumbai: 27 July 2026
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office, organised a Manak Manthan in hybrid mode (offline and online) on 24 July 2026 at its Mumbai Branch Office in Powai.
The programme was organised to facilitate stakeholder consultation on two draft Indian Standards, namely Plastic Containers for Microwave Use – Specification and Plastic Feeding & Drinking Containers, Accessories & Cutleries for Infants – Specification. The technical sessions were conducted by Scientist E/Director, Shri Mahendar Singh Jakhar who elaborated on the provisions of the draft standards covering the quality, safety and performance requirements of the products.

The programme was attended by representatives from manufacturing industries, industry associations, testing laboratories and other stakeholders through both offline and online modes. During the deliberations, participants shared their technical observations, suggestions and feedback on the draft standards for consideration during the standardisation process. An interactive question-and-answer session was also held, providing participants an opportunity to seek clarifications and offer recommendations on the draft standards.
The Manak Manthan served as a platform for stakeholder consultation and exchange of technical views, supporting BIS's objective of developing robust, relevant and effective Indian Standards through a participative standardisation process.
