Kargil Vijay Diwas Commemorated with Solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at Kamptee

The 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed with solemnity and deep reverence at the War Memorial, Guards Regiment Centre, Kamptee, where a Wreath Laying Ceremony was held on 26 July 2026 to honour the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the Nation.

A wreath was laid on behalf of all ranks by Maj Gen Varun Malhotra, General Officer Commanding, Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area as a mark of respect to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the Nation.

The ceremony was attended by serving personnel, Veterans, Veer Naris and Civilians dignitaries. The ceremony concluded with a pledge to uphold the glorious traditions, values and ethos of the Indian Army and to remember the immortal heroes whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire generations.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated on 26 Jul every year to honour the unparalleled courage, valour, and supreme sacrifice on the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who secured victory during the Kargil War in 1999. The day stands as a symbol of the nation’s gratitude to the heroes who fought under the most challenging conditions in the Kargil -Drass Sector of Ladakh.

During Operation Vijay, Indian Armed Forces displayed extraordinary bravery while fighting extremely rugged terrain at altitudes exceeding 16,000 feet under adverse weather conditions. Their unwavering determination, professionalism and indomitable spirit led to the successful eviction of enemy forces and restored the sanctity of India’s territorial integrity. The victory remains one of the finest examples of courage and sacrifice in the history of the Indian Armed Forces.

To mark the occasion, Military Hospital Kamptee also organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with AIIMS, Nagpur. A Breast Cancer Screening Camp along with an HPV vaccination drive for the families and daughters of Army personnel from Kamptee and Nagpurwas also conducted, highlighting the Army’s continued commitment to the health, welfare and well-being of its military community.
