INDIAN ARMY MOBILISED FLOOD RELIEF OPERATIONS IN GUJARAT

Responding swiftly to the evolving flood situation in Gujarat, the Indian Army, under the aegis of Southern Command, has mobilized Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, to assist the civil administration in ongoing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
Army teams have been deployed in the affected areas of Navsari, Valsad, Silvassa and Ahmedabad, while additional relief columns have been kept in readiness at Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad for immediate deployment, as per the developing situation. The relief effort is being undertaken in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and other responding agencies.
Rescue operations commenced late on the night of 23 July 2026 in the flood-affected areas of Navsari. Army teams have so far safely evacuated 43 stranded civilians from inundated locations so far. Operations are continuing, with the Army maintaining a high state of readiness to respond to emerging requirements.
The Indian Army remains committed to extending timely assistance to the affected population and working in close synergy with the civil administration to safeguard lives and support relief efforts during the ongoing flood situation.
