Bhilai Steel Plant Intensifies Safety Awareness Drive Through Large Group Interaction Series

Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has intensified its efforts to strengthen industrial safety culture by organising a series of Large Group Interaction (LGI) programmes on key workplace safety topics for officers and employees. The initiative is aimed at enhancing safety awareness, promoting safe work practices and reinforcing a proactive safety culture across the plant.

As part of the ongoing campaign, the Safety Engineering Department (SED) organised a Large Group Interaction on "Safety Circle" at the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) on July 15. The programme was attended by 25 participants and focused on the role of Safety Circles in encouraging employee participation, identifying workplace hazards and driving continuous improvement in occupational safety. General Manager (Safety Engineering Department) Pushpa Ambrose and Vijendra Singh from the Instrumentation Department conducted the interactive session through presentations and discussions on strengthening workplace safety.

Another Large Group Interaction on "Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)" was organised for executives at the Human Resource Development Centre on July 18, with the participation of 17 officers. Assistant Manager (Steel Melting Shop-2) Sumit Kumar highlighted the importance of the correct selection, proper use and regular maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment to ensure a safe working environment.

Earlier, a Large Group Interaction on "Fire Safety" was organised for non-executive employees on June 30, in which 31 employees participated. Additional Chief Fire Officer Sanjay Dhawas and Fire Officer Abhishek Kumar sensitised participants on fire prevention measures, emergency response protocols and safe handling practices to minimise fire-related risks in industrial operations.

Continuing the series, a Large Group Interaction on "Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO)" was organised for executives on July 21. During the session, Adavath Nagendhar explained the regulatory framework, statutory safety requirements and best practices for the safe handling, storage and use of petroleum products and explosives in industrial establishments. Bhilai Steel Plant has been conducting such Large Group Interaction programmes on a regular basis to strengthen safety awareness among its workforce and further reinforce a culture of safe and responsible industrial operations across the plant.
