The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Mumbai, will organise a VARTALAP – Media Conference on the theme "From Regional Identity to Global Opportunity" for invited journalists from Kolhapur district on 21 July 2026 at The Pavilion Hotel, Kolhapur. The conference will be inaugurated by Dr. Jasmin, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Kolhapur.

The conference aims to strengthen the capacity of media professionals and create awareness about the initiatives and opportunities provided by three organizations : Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Council of Leather Exports and Sports Authority of India. Through the sessions by the organizations, the Vartalap will focus on sectors that reflect Kolhapur's unique strengths and growth potential. 

The sessions will include "Jewellery without Borders: Connecting Kolhapur's Metal Craft to Global Market," highlighting export opportunities for the region's metal craft sector; "Unlocking Beyond the GI Tag: Building Global Competitiveness for Kolhapuri Leather," focusing on enhancing the global competitiveness of Kolhapuri leather products; and "Champion in the Making: How SAI Can Support Kolhapur's Sporting Potential," showcasing initiatives for identifying and nurturing sporting talent.

Designed for professionals from the print, electronic and digital media, the conference will promote dialogue on accurate and responsible reporting. Senior government officials and beneficiaries of Government of India schemes will also interact with participants, while the programme will provide opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and capacity building among journalists.
