In a significant achievement for sustainable aquaculture, scientists from the ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Cochin, have been granted an Indian patent for an innovative Solar-Powered Remote-Controlled Fish Feed Distribution System. The invention, titled "A Feed Distributor System and a Method Thereof" (Patent No. 592875), has been developed by Dr. Aniesrani Delfiya D.S., Dr. S. Murali, and Dr. George Ninan.

 

The patented technology is a floating, solar-powered fish feed distributor that enables uniform feed distribution throughout aquaculture ponds using remote control. By ensuring precise and efficient feeding, the system minimizes feed wastage, reduces labour dependency, lowers operational costs, and enhances fish production efficiency.

This patent reflects ICAR-CIFT's continued commitment to developing innovative technologies that improve productivity while promoting sustainable aquaculture. The solar-powered feed distribution system has the potential to transform feeding practices by making them more efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly.
