In a remarkable achievement for Indian science, least 25 scientists/staff members from CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, have been named in the official 2025 SciRank Global registry of the world’s top 5% scientists. The registry, published by SciRank Global, evaluates millions of researchers worldwide based on their scholarly output, citations, and overall impact. This recognition places CSIR-CSMCRI firmly on the global map of excellence in research and innovation. Located in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, CSIR-CSMCRI is renowned for its pioneering work in marine science, salt chemistry, desalination technologies, and sustainable chemical processes.
The inclusion of more than two dozen of its scientists underscores the institute’s collective strength and its contribution to advancing knowledge in areas critical to industry and society. Dr. Arup Ghosh, the director of the institute said that this recognition not only highlights individual brilliance but also reflects the collaborative spirit and institutional culture that fosters high-quality research. The achievement is expected to enhance CSIR-CSMCRI’s international collaborations, attract greater research funding, and inspire young scientists across India. Many researchers of this institute were also featured in the prestigious global list of the World's Top 2% Scientists published by Stanford University and Elsevier earlier. This milestone reinforces Bhavnagar’s reputation as a hub of cutting-edge marine and chemical research, while adding to India’s growing stature in the global scientific community.
