The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) operationalised a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) at Kokkirakulam, Tirunelveli, today (21.05.2026). The facility was inaugurated by Dr. R. Sukumar, District Collector of Tirunelveli, in an event hosted by the UIDAI Regional Office, Bengaluru.

The Tirunelveli ASK is a Model-Centre equipped with four operational kits, offering enrolment, demographic and biometric updates, error correction, and grievance redressal services under one roof. The centre functions on all days except public holidays. During the inauguration, Dr. R. Sukumar directed the district administration to refer cases of needy individuals to the centre for prompt redressal. He stated that the district administration would ensure adequate publicity regarding the opening of the new facility at Tirunelveli.

Smt. Priya Shreekumar, Deputy Director, UIDAI RO Bengaluru, apprised that this marks the 6th operational ASK in Tamil Nadu, following recent openings in Krishnagiri, Vellore, and Viluppuram. She noted that UIDAI plans to open 24 more centres, bringing the state total to 30 by September 2026. These UIDAI-managed centres are resident-friendly, featuring wheelchair accessibility and dedicated grievance managers. Residents can book appointments via the UIDAI portal https://bookappointment.uidai.gov.in/. Additionally, mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5-17 are being provided free of cost until September 2026 through these centres and school camps.

The inauguration of the UIDAI Aadhaar Seva Kendra at Tirunelveli reinforces UIDAI's commitment to accessible, efficient and resident-centric Aadhaar services, strengthening digital governance and enhancing the Ease of Living in line with the Government of India's vision of digital inclusion and good governance.
