UIDAI Opens a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Viluppuram

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) operationalised a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) in Viluppuram today (14.05.2026). The facility, a Model-C centre equipped with four operational kits, was inaugurated by Thiru. S. Sheik Abdul Rahaman, District Collector of Viluppuram, in the presence of officials from UIDAI Regional Office Bengaluru and representatives from PIB, Akashvani, Doordarshan, and BLS International.

The centre provides comprehensive services including enrolment, demographic and biometric updates, and grievance redressal. The centre functions on all days except public holidays, thereby ensuring greater accessibility, convenience, and an enhanced service experience for residents.

 

District Collector Thiru S. Sheik Abdul Rahaman, IAS, inaugurated the centre at Viluppuram by cutting the ribbon and formally opened the facility for public use. He also interacted with the residents present at the centre as well as the ASK staff and enquired about the Aadhaar enrolment and update procedures being followed for providing Aadhaar services at the centre.

Speaking about the new centre, Sh. Pawan Kumar Pahwa, Director, UIDAI Regional Office Bengaluru, apprised that 5 Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) were operational in Tamil Nadu so far, including the two newly opened centres at Krishnagiri and Vellore was inaugurated in the last two days. With the inauguration of this new centre in Viluppuram, the 6th Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Tamil Nadu has now become operational. Looking ahead, UIDAI RO Bengaluru plans to open 24 more Aadhaar Seva Kendras across Tamil Nadu, taking the total number of ASKS in the state to 30 centers by September 2026.

These Aadhaar Seva Kendras are directly operated by UIDAI. The centres are designed to be fully inclusive and resident-friendly, with facilities such as wheelchair accessibility, accessible restrooms, and a dedicated grievance redressal mechanism. Each Aadhaar Seva Kendra is managed by an ASK Manager who receives grievances from residents, forwards them to the concerned authorities, and ensures timely resolution. Mandatory Biometric updates for children aged 5-17 years are being provided free of cost till September 2026, and the facility is available both in school camps and Aadhaar Seva Kendras.

The inauguration of the Aadhaar Seva Kendra at Viluppuram reinforces UIDAI's commitment to accessible, efficient, and resident-centric Aadhaar services, strengthening digital governance and enhancing the Ease of Living in line with the Government of India's vision of digital inclusion and good governance.
