Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Kerala & Lakshadweep, hosted "PRARAMBH-2026," today on 12.05.2026, a flagship nation-wide awareness campaign aimed at creating public awareness and stakeholder engagement on the newly enacted Income Tax Act, 2025 at the C.R. Building, I.S. Press Road, Kochi.

 

The event featured session on general overview and thematic technical sessions on International taxation, TDS and Exemption.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CCIT) for Kerala& Lakshadweep, Shri Peeyush Jain, IRS emphasized the department 's shift towards a more transparent and technology driven ecosystem. He also reassured department's commitment towards ensuring smooth and tax payer friendly transition from the old act to the new act. The session witnessed the demonstration of landmark digital initiatives such as Kar Setu, a detailed repository of FAQs, Kar Sathi', Al Chatbot, QR enabled forms aimed at bridging the gap between the Income Tax Department and taxpayers through proactive engagement and seamless digital interface. Live kiosks to demonstrate the working of newly introduced digitals tools and for availing the forms, were also made available for the participants.

 

 

The event featured a deep-dive dialogue ensuring total clarity on the key objectives and the future roadmap for the implementation of the Income Tax Act, 2025. The cvent witnessed active participation of diverse stakeholders including CAs, lawyers, assesses, tax practitioners, Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee members, Representatives of Kerala Merchant Chamber of Commerce, members from banking sector, representatives of Cochin Chamber of Commerce, members of FICCI, business community, teachers and students.
