IIT Gandhinagar Incubated Startup to Host Robotics Summer School for Engineering Students from June 15 to 28

Posted On: 24 APR 2026 7:19PM by PIB Ahmedabad

An IIT Gandhinagar incubated startup, AB6 Robotics, is hosting a fully hands-on and fully residential 2-week robotics summer school at IIT Gandhinagar. The summer school named Aurora Rising will be conducted from June 15 to June 28, 2026.

What sets apart the summer school is its experiential and collaborative format. Participants will learn robotics through hands-on challenges on a variety of industry-grade robot platforms during the program. The program also includes sessions with startup founders and researchers in the field of robotics providing a wider exposure to participants. The curriculum integrates concepts such as robot kinematics, control systems, and sensing and perception with practical exposure to hardware - bridging the gap between theory and application.

Prof Harish P M, leading the summer school said “As industries rapidly adopt robotics, automation, and AI-driven systems, the demand for skilled talent in such hands-on domains is growing sharply. However, very few opportunities for practical, hands-on training in such advanced fields are available for large segments of students and professionals.”

The previous edition of Aurora Rising saw strong participation from students across institutions in India and was widely appreciated for its rigorous structure and hands-on pedagogy. A select group of top-performing participants from the previous cohort advanced to extended research opportunities, working on live robotics projects. The program has since established itself as a promising platform for students aspiring to pursue robotics research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

AB6 Robotics, the industry partner for the program, is known for its innovative products in applied robotics and engineering education. The organization focuses on building practical, accessible learning ecosystems that equip students with industry-relevant skills and real-world problem-solving capabilities.

Mr Suyash Patidar, founder of AB6 Robotics, shared that “The mode of hands-on learning is changing rapidly with the advent of AI and digital tools. AB6 Robotics platforms incorporate advanced pedagogy and AI tools for a deep and engaging experience for the participants.”

Aurora Rising 2026 is open to engineering students from all disciplines who possess a basic understanding of mathematics and programming. The program is fully residential, accommodation, meals, and access to all learning resources and hardware infrastructure are included in the program. Scholarships are available for meritorious and deserving candidates. Details of the program and registration details are available on the website absixrobotics.com/aurora.

With its strong emphasis on hands-on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and exposure to real-world robotics challenges, Aurora Rising 2026 is an ideal platform for the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers in India’s rapidly evolving robotics landscape.
