JIPMER, Puducherry organizes Cyclothon to Promote Cleanliness and Fitness

A Cyclothon was organised by the AAM Primary Health Centre (AAM-PHC), Ramanathapuram, JIPMER, Puducherry, in collaboration with the Indian Public Health Association (IPHA), Pondicherry Chapter, on April 12, 2026, as part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2026.

The event aimed to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and physical fitness, in line with national initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Fit India Movement, reinforcing the message of “Clean India, Fit India.”

The cyclothon was flagged off from the JIPMER campus by Dr. Saka Vinod Kumar, Medical Superintendent, JIPMER; Dr. Premarajan K.C., Project Coordinator, JIPMER and Patron, IPHA Pondicherry Chapter; and Dr. Subitha L., Faculty In-Charge, JRHC and Secretary, IPHA Pondicherry Chapter.

A total of 75 participants, including medical students, interns, healthcare professionals, and community members, took part in the event, cycling to AAM-PHC Ramanathapuram while spreading awareness on cleanliness and healthy living.

First-aid and refreshment facilities were arranged along the route. The event concluded at AAM-PHC Ramanathapuram.

Dr. Vadivel, Chief Medical Officer, AAM-PHC Ramanathapuram, and Dr. Subitha L. addressed the participants, emphasising the importance of community participation in cleanliness initiatives and regular physical activity for better health.

Certificates of appreciation were distributed to all participants.

The initiative highlighted the importance of collective efforts in promoting a cleaner, healthier, and fitter society.
