SAIL_Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) organised a three-day educational plant visit for students and faculty members of Ramakrishna Mission Industrial Training Institute (RKMITI), Narayanpur, and IIT Bhilai under the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the respective institutions. The programme was conducted by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC – Learning & Development) of BSP on March 12, 13, and 14, 2026.

On March 12 and 13, a total of 85 students and 10 faculty members from RKMITI, Narayanpur, participated in the visit, accompanied by coordinators Shri Sunil Kumar and Shri Ravi Kumar Thakur. On March 14, 27 students, along with faculty members from IIT Bhilai, undertook the industrial and academic exposure visit under the guidance of Dr. Ashish Kumar Sahu, Coordinator from the institute.

Before the plant tour, participants were given a comprehensive safety briefing at HRD Centre by the Safety Department, covering essential safety protocols, precautionary measures, and guidelines for safe movement within operational areas. To ensure adherence to safety standards, all participants were provided with safety shoes and helmets.

During the visit, students and faculty members were taken to key production units of the plant, including Blast Furnace–8, Steel Melting Shop–3, and the Universal Rail Mill. The primary objective of the programme was to provide practical exposure to modern steelmaking processes and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial practices.

Notably, during the financial year 2025–26, BSP has already facilitated plant visits for over 550 students from various academic institutions, surpassing its target of 400.

Technical officials from concerned departments provided detailed insights into production processes, operational methodologies, and safety practices adopted in the plant. The visit enabled participants to gain a valuable understanding of large-scale steel production, shop-floor discipline, process coordination, and safe working practices. Students and faculty members appreciated the initiative, describing it as highly informative and enriching.

The entire programme was coordinated by Shri B. R. Masram, Junior Manager (HR–L&D), under the guidance of Shri Sanjeev Kumar Srivastava, GM In-charge (HR–L&D).
