JIPMER inaugurated a newly constructed fourth patient shelter within the hospital premises on Friday, March 6, 2026. The shelter, constructed at a cost of ₹15 lakhs, has been donated by Gothi Charitable Trust, Puducherry.

 

The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Vir Singh Negi, Director, JIPMER, along with Mrs. Sumitra Gothi and Mr. Sanjay Gothi in the presence of Dr. Saka Vinod Kumar, Medical Superintendent, and Shri S. Rangabashiam, Deputy Director (Administration).

The patient shelter has been established to provide a comfortable resting space for patients and their attendants visiting JIPMER for treatment. The facility is expected to benefit a large number of patients and caregivers, particularly those travelling from distant places, by providing them with a safe and convenient resting area within the hospital premises.

On the occasion, the Director of JIPMER appreciated the sustained philanthropic contributions of the Trust and highlighted the importance of such support in strengthening patient amenities and enhancing support services within the institute.

JIPMER expressed its sincere gratitude to the Trust for their generous contribution and continued support towards improving facilities for patients and their caregivers.
