RBI Nagpur Successfully Conducts Vidarbha Specific Training for Empowering MSMEs (VSTEM) and Town Hall Meeting at Yavatmal

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Nagpur successfully conducted the Vidarbha Specific Training for Empowering MSMEs (VSTEM) and a Town Hall Meeting at Yavatmal on February 23, 2026. The programme was organised in pursuance of the objectives of financial inclusion and MSME development in Yavatmal district. The event witnessed participation from over 200 MSME entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs from the district.

The workshop was designed with a district-specific customised approach aligned to the economic profile of Yavatmal district. It included an integrated focus on credit literacy, preparation of bankable projects and awareness of various government schemes. The programme facilitated direct interaction between MSME entrepreneurs, bankers and government officials. Special emphasis was laid on the GST platform, Udyam Registration, GeM portal integration and understanding of basic financial terminologies.

The event was graced by Shri Sachin Y. Shende, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur; Smt. Anjana Shyamnath, Deputy General Manager, FIDD, RBI Nagpur; Shri Kush Ganhotra, Deputy General Manager, Bank of India; Shri Sunil Pandey, Regional Manager and Lead District Manager, Central Bank of India; and Shri Sushil Garud, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Yavatmal. Senior officials from SIDBI, NABARD and major banks in the region were also present. Banks set up stalls at the venue to assist participants with information on MSME credit facilities.

While addressing the participants, Shri Sachin Y. Shende, Regional Director, RBI Nagpur, emphasised the critical importance of capacity building and integration of entrepreneurs into the formal financial ecosystem, supported by appropriate financing and skill development initiatives.
Smt. Anjana Shyamnath, Deputy General Manager, RBI Nagpur, elaborated on the conceptual framework and genesis of the initiative undertaken under the banner of VSTEM. She highlighted that the initiative was conceptualised by the Reserve Bank of India through its Nagpur office to respond directly to local opportunities and constraints. Officials from SIDBI and NABARD also shared the initiatives undertaken by their institutions for empowering MSME entrepreneurs.
The workshop focused on district-specific opportunities and potential areas for MSME development. It covered practical aspects relating to Udyam Registration, record-keeping and key features of Central and State Government schemes such as PMEGP, CMEGP, MUDRA, CGTMSE and PM Vishwakarma.
Specialised sessions were conducted on MSME-related digital platforms, providing step-by-step guidance on Udyam Registration and the GST platform. Dedicated sessions were also organised to familiarise MSME entrepreneurs with established market access avenues such as the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. Sessions were held to enhance participants’ understanding of basic banking concepts and commonly used financial terminologies. A highlight of the programme was the sharing of success stories by MSME entrepreneurs from the district, whose inspiring journeys of resilience and enterprise motivated the participants.
The workshop was widely appreciated and concluded with interactive discussions and guidance sessions, reinforcing the objective of creating a sustainable district-level MSME support ecosystem through enhanced credit linkages and continued institutional engagement.
