Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced five new programmes under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode from the January 2026 academic session.

Addressing a press conference, Dr. Laxman Kumarwad, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Nagpur, informed that the newly introduced programmes include two postgraduate degrees—M.Sc. in Data Science and Analytics (MSCDSA) and Master of Arts in Human Values and Ethics (MAHUE); two postgraduate diplomas—Post Graduate Diploma in Bharatiya Darshan (PGDBD) and Post Graduate Diploma in Waste Management (PGDWAM); and one undergraduate programme—B.Sc. in Fabric and Apparel Design (BSCFFAD).

The M.Sc. in Data Science and Analytics focuses on computational and statistical skills for practical applications. 

The MA in Human Values and Ethics is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Post Graduate Diploma in Bharatiya Darshan and the Post Graduate Diploma in Waste Management are one-year programmes. The B.Sc. in Fabric and Apparel Design is a three-year undergraduate programme.

The last date for fresh admissions for the January 2026 session has been extended to February 28, 2026. Eligible students of the 2nd/3rd year or 2nd to 6th semester are required to complete re-registration on or before the same date for continuation of their studies.

Dr. Kumarwad also stated that IGNOU Regional Centre Nagpur provides academic and administrative support to learners across 11 districts of Vidarbha and three districts of Marathwada—Nanded, Hingoli and Parbhani.

The University will organise its 39th Convocation in March 2026 for learners who completed their programmes in the December 2024 and June 2025 Term-End Examinations. Online registration has also commenced for the B.Ed. Entrance Examination for the upcoming academic session.

Dr. Kumarwad urged eligible students to complete the admission and registration process before the deadline.
