Mumbai, 12 February 2026

Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd. (MRVC) has achieved a significant milestone in the ongoing Station Improvement Works at Vasai Road Station under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP–3A).

A newly constructed Foot Over Bridge (FOB), measuring 6 metres in width and 42 metres in length, connecting the east circulating area with island platforms 4–5 and 6–7, along with staircases on the east side, has been completed and commissioned today.

In addition, a 50‑metre long and 10‑metre wide elevated deck (part of a planned 250 × 10 metre deck) connecting the newly constructed FOB has also been commissioned. Earlier, a 60 × 10 metre portion of this deck was commissioned in December 2025. These facilities are expected to substantially improve passenger circulation and ease congestion at this high‑footfall suburban station.

The station improvement works at Vasai Road are being executed in a phased manner, keeping in view operational constraints and heavy suburban traffic. The works aim to enhance passenger safety, improve vertical and horizontal circulation, and create additional holding space through vertical development.

Chief Public Relations Officer, MRVC, Shri Sunil Udasi stated:

“The commissioning of the new FOB and elevated deck at Vasai Road marks another important step in strengthening passenger infrastructure on the Western suburban corridor. Despite the challenges of working in a saturated suburban section, MRVC is progressing systematically to improve circulation, safety, and commuter convenience while ensuring uninterrupted train operations.”

MRVC remains committed to completing the remaining works in a time‑bound manner and delivering modern, commuter‑friendly infrastructure under the MUTP–3A project.
