The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), was invited to the Madhya Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026, held at, Bhopal. The conference, organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, startups, academia, and central agencies to deliberate on inclusive and responsible AI adoption in governance.

The conference was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, who highlighted the state’s vision of using artificial intelligence for citizen-centric governance and announced that Madhya Pradesh will soon introduce a State AI Policy in mission mode. He emphasized the role of multilingual platforms such as BHASHINI in extending AI-led governance across linguistic and regional boundaries.

A key milestone of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Digital India BHASHINI Division, signed in the presence of the Chief Minister. The MoU formalizes collaboration to enable multilingual digital governance through the integration of BHASHINI’s language technologies, translation APIs, and AI-powered language tools across state government digital platforms, ensuring wider access to public services in multiple Indian languages.

Through this partnership, BHASHINI will support the deployment of voice-first and multilingual AI solutions across Madhya Pradesh’s digital governance ecosystem, strengthening accessibility, inclusivity, and last-mile service delivery. The collaboration aligns with BHASHINI’s national mandate of embedding Indian languages into India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, ensuring that linguistic diversity becomes a strength in India’s digital transformation journey.

Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO, IndiaAI, emphasized the importance of language datasets in strengthening AI systems and noted that BHASHINI enables seamless multilingual translation across Indian languages, supporting effective and inclusive delivery of digital government services.

Shri Sanjay Dubey, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Science & Technology and Department of Urban Development & Housing, Government of Madhya Pradesh, emphasized that integration with BHASHINI would enable state governance platforms to operate seamlessly across multiple Indian languages, ensuring equitable access to digital services for citizens from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

BHASHINI’s role was further highlighted through the participation of Shri Amitabh Nag, CEO, Digital India BHASHINI Division, in the thematic session on “Technology-Led Governance for All.” During the discussion, he emphasized that AI adoption is a continuous journey of improvement, driven by real-world usage, feedback, and iterative model enhancement. He highlighted the importance of working in open and collaborative ecosystems, where AI systems evolve through partnerships with government stakeholders, industry, and the broader community. He also underlined that data forms the foundation of AI, and sustained dataset creation is essential for building effective, scalable, and inclusive language AI systems.

The engagement around BHASHINI reaffirmed its role as a key enabler of India’s AI-led governance vision, ensuring that linguistic diversity strengthens digital inclusion and accelerates technology-driven public service delivery.
