- An Ayush vertical has been created in Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) to strengthen regulatory measures ensuring safety and quality of Ayush drugs. Further, CDSCO issues WHO Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (WHO-CoPP) to Ayush drugs having compliance to such standards.
- Quality Certifications Scheme implemented by the Quality Council of India (QCI) for grant of Ayush mark to Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani products on the basis of third party evaluation of quality in accordance with the status of compliance to domestic and international standards.
- Enhanced Raw Material Sourcing: The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) promotes the cultivation of medicinal plants using Good Agricultural and Collection Practices to ensure the supply of quality raw materials, reducing the risk of contamination from wild sources.
The increased funding for Post Graduate Ayush Institutions and new Ayush Colleges is effectively addressing the growing need for skilled, research-oriented faculty and practitioners in the country.

- Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences
- “Research Project entitled “Development and Validation of Prakriti Assessment Scale”
- Prakriti is a fundamental concept of Ayurveda. Determination of Prakriti is an integral part of Ayurvedic diagnostics and treatment which is now a days interpreted in terms of P4 (Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory) medicine.
- It was realized by CCRAS that there is gross variability in Prakriti Assessment Questionnaire being used by various Ayurveda experts/Academicians and clinicians.
- Council has developed Standardized Prakriti Assessment Scale and AYUR Prakriti Web Portal based on Ayurveda Classics in consultation with eminent experts of Ayurveda, biostatistician and clinical psychologists of renowned institutions across India through various National consultative meetings. This scale has been validated statistically through multi-centre inter-rater agreement study and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (a statistical method) using PCA (Principle Component Analysis) by involving 10 institutes viz. 4 National Institutes namely AIIA, New Delhi; IPGT&RA, Jamnagar; NIA, Jaipur; CBPACS, Delhi; and 6 CCRAS Institutes.
- The Standard Operative Procedures (SoPs) for capturing each and every predictor described in the classical Ayurveda Texts for assessment of Prakriti has been developed and documented in the form of “Manual of Standard Operative Procedures (SoPs) for Prakriti Assessment Scale”. The Council has obtained Copyright on “A Process for development and Validation of Prakriti Assessment Questionnaire/ scale” dated 19th July, 2018 (registration no. L-76725/ 2018).
- Capacity Building: All the Council’s technical officers of Ayurveda (approx. 200) from across the country have been trained and using this portal for various research projects. CCRAS is coordinating with Ayurveda Colleges across the country and is organizing training programmes for faculty members and stakeholders.
- Research Project entitled “Systems Biology approach to delineate molecular signatures of Prakriti in healthy humans”
The Council has undertaken a research project entitled “Systems Biology approach to delineate molecular signatures of Prakriti in healthy humans” to study various signatures of specific Prakriti groups in relation to Multi-omics correlates of Contemporary Sciences i.e. Transcriptomics, Metabolomics, Proteomics, Metagenomics and Exosome study in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi and Center for Clinical research and Education (CCRE), The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU), Bengaluru. The seven institutes of CCRAS viz. CARI Guwahati, CARI Patiala, CARI Mumbai, CARI Bhubaneshwar, NARIP Cheruthuruthy, RARI Gangtok and RARI Lucknow are the study site for enrolling study population.
- Research Project entitled “Assessment of Prakriti (Ayurvedic body constitution) of patients with Cervical and Ovarian cancers”
The research project has been conducted at CARI, Mumbai in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai with the objectives to assess prakriti of newly diagnosed cervical and epithelial ovarian cancer patients and to assess prakriti of apparently healthy female (AHF) and AHF relative (wherever possible) of patients of cervical and epithelial ovarian cancer as control. The study aims to create a database regarding Prakriti of cervical, epithelial ovarian cancer patients.
