Indian Coast Guard commissions fast petrol vessel 'Amulya' built at Goa Shipyard
Vessel to strengthen Coast Guard’s operational capabilities and country’s maritime might

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship ‘Amulya’, the third vessel in the new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), was commissioned by Shri Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, at an event held at Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco, Goa, today, December 19, 2025.
The 51-metre FPV powered by two 3000 kW advanced diesel engines, was designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
Speaking at the event, Shri Amitabh Prasad said the vessel Amulya would strengthen the operational capability of the Indian Coast Guard. “Equipped with advance state-of-the-art systems and more than 60% indigenous content, Amulya is a shining embodiment of the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. It represents not only our technological advancement but also the strengthening of India's maritime might and industrial base. Our maritime environment today is both dynamic and complex. To counter these challenges effectively, the Indian Coast Guard continues to modernize its fleet, enhance its surveillance capabilities, and strengthen operational readiness,” he said.
Appreciating the GSL for building the vessel, Shri Amitabh Prasad said that the indigenous construction of the vessel was a proud symbol of the exponential growth of our shipbuilding industry. “Indigenization strengthens national contributes to economic growth, and generates employment opportunities for our people. It is indeed a welcome and vital step in nation-building,” he added.
GSL Director(Operation) Rear Admiral Nelson D’Souza said that over six decades, GSL had emerged as the country’s one of the most reliable and versatile warship builders. “The GSL has, by now, delivered over 400 platforms to the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and friendly foreign nations. Of these, 35 platforms have been constructed for the ICG, underscoring the deep institutional trust and longstanding partnership between GSL and the Coast Guard,” he said.
Padma Shri Libia Lobo Sardesai, Inspector General sh. Jyotindra Singh, TM Deputy Director General (HRD) CGHQ and Chief of Staff, Coast Guard, Western Seaboard, were present at the event along with senior officials of the GSL and Central and State governments.
The vessel Amulya is capable of delivering a top speed of 27 knots and an operational endurance of 1500 nautical miles, enabling extended missions in India's maritime zones. The ship is armed with a 30 mm CRN-91 gun and two 12.7 mm Stabilized Remote-Controlled Guns, supported by advanced target acquisition and fire-control systems.
The vessel will be based at Paradip, Odisha, operating under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East) through the Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 7.
